BCP Supports Local Candidates

Don Daiker, President, called the General Meeting to order at 7.15 pm in the Community Room of the LCNB Bank Building, Oxford.

Several pieces of business were addressed at the June 2nd General Meeting.
1. Kathryn Romano was elected to a vacant position on the BCP-PAC Executive Board.

2. Candidate funding recommendations (based on several factors including specific funding requests by candidates) made by the BCP-PAC Executive Board were unanimously approved by the general membership.  Supported candidates included incumbent Judge Kathleen Romans (below), Butler County Juvenile Court, $1500.

Butch Hubble (below), candidate for Butler County Commissioner, $800.

J.C. Shew (below), candidate for the 53rd district of the Ohio House, $1000.

Bruce Carter (shown below addressing a BCP-PAC meeting in February 2010), candidate for the 54th district of the Ohio House, $1000.

Justin Coussoule (below), local Democratic candidate for Congress in Ohio’s 8th Congressional District, spoke briefly about his campaign and about strategies to defeat the incumbent, Congressman John Boehner.  BCP-PAC is unable to financially support this very deserving candidate because it is not a registered Federal political action committee.  Individuals are free to contribute to his campaign; more information available at his web site <http://www.coussouleforcongress.com/>.

BCP-PAC Endorses Brian Harrison for Butler County Democratic Party Chair

November 17, 2009 — The Executive Board of the Butler County Progressive Political Action Committee voted today to endorse Brian Harrison for Chair of the Butler County Democratic Party Executive Committee.   The vote was unanimous.

  • Butler County Progressive PAC Vice President Bill Gracie said, “Brian’s record speaks to his experience as an active member of the Democratic Party.  He has the energy, intelligence, and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively that will make him an exemplary Party Chair.”
  • “I’m impressed at how much Brian knows about local/regional politics and how they work,” Board member Pete Carels said.
  • “Brian Harrison is as unhappy as you are living in a Red county,” PAC Secretary Donna Mollaun said.     “He has a vision for what we will become — a Proud Blue Butler County!”
  • “Brian Harrison is one of the smartest people I know,” said PAC President Don Daiker.  “His keen intelligence is matched by his energy, creativity, and ability to work constructively with others.  He is more than ready to take charge of our Party.”
  • “I’m impressed with Brian’s expansive knowledge of party politics, the local and state Democratic Party, and the political trends in Butler County,” Kathleen Knight Abowitz observed.  “Brian is a hard worker on behalf of the Democratic Party in Butler County.”
  • “If fighting the good fight on behalf of the Democratic Party under adverse conditions means anything, then Brian is your guy,” added Clyde Brown.
  • “Brian is the best person to lead us out of the Butler County desert,” Eric Carman said.

The Butler County Progressive PAC is a voluntary, grass-roots organization with over 100 dues-paying members. Its central goal is to support progressive candidates and causes.

Butler County Progressive PAC Hat Trick On Its First Try

The BCP-PAC endorsed candidates in three local elections for 2009, and all three of our endorsed candidates are victorious!

Larry Frimermann, an incumbent Trustee in Oxford Township, not only was re-elected, but was the top vote getter in a three person race.

Brad Mills, a first-time challenger in the race for Milford Township Trustee, out-polled both of the incumbents and was the highest vote getter in all four precincts in his township!

A.J. Smith, in his second bid for office and first run for Middletown City Council, defeated his competitor in Middletown’s Second Ward by over 40%!

These three wins were not a fluke.  The executive committee of BCPPAC interviewed each candidate before endorsing them.  Each candidate was very organized and several BCPPAC members volunteered to work for them.
