Oxford Reception for Governor Strickland

Butler County Progressive Political Political Action Committee held a reception for Governor Ted Strickland at the home of Glenn and Judy Rymer on the evening of August 25, 2010.  The event was co-sponsored by Butler County Democratic Party, Change Butler Political Action Committee, Hamilton-Fairfield Democratic Alliance and Miami University College Democrats.

Corporate contributions are prohibited. However, partnerships, LLCs and other unincorporated entities may contribute, but must provide the name of an owner to whom to attribute the contribution. Ohio law requires that all contributors must provide their name and address regardless of the amount of the contribution and the name of their employer if the contribution is for more than $100. If the contributor is self employed, the business name and occupation of the contributor must be provided. Ohio law in general prohibits the award of an unbid state contract if contributions to the officeholder from an owner, partner or shareholder of the contracting entity or their spouse have exceeded $1,000 from the person in the two calendar years prior to the award of the contract. State employees are prohibited from donating to the campaign and should disregard this invitation. Contributions to Strickland for Governor are not tax deductible.

Contributions of money made to the campaign committee of a candidate for any of the following public offices:

  • governor and lieutenant governor
  • secretary of state
  • auditor of state
  • treasurer of state
  • attorney general
  • member of the state board of education
  • chief justice of the supreme court
  • justice of the supreme court
  • member of the general assembly (house or state senate)

The amount of the credit equals the lesser of the combined total of contributions made during the year by each taxpayer filing a return of $50, in the case of an individual return, or $100 in the case of a joint return.

BCP Reception with Ohio Supreme Court Chief Justice

You are cordially invited to meet Chief Justice Designate of the Ohio Supreme Court Eric Brown right here in Oxford!!

Judge Brown will be the Guest of Honor at a reception from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 30, at Kona Bistro, 31 West High Street in uptown Oxford. There will be a cash bar and complimentary hors-doeuvres.

The Oxford visit will be Judge Brown’s first trip to Butler County since Governor Ted Strickland appointed him, following the death of Thomas Moyers, to become Ohio’s next Supreme Court Chief Justice.

Tickets for the reception are $10. and may be purchased at the door. To become an event sponsor or host, email or call Clyde Brown at <clydebrown@bcppac.net> or 513-523-0883. A sponsor is $50 and a host is $25. Each receives one ticket, acknowledgment at the reception, and a photograph with Chief Justice Brown.

The Judge Brown reception will also honor Butler County Democratic candidates for office in the November 2010 election. In addition, candidates for the Butler County Democratic Central Committee (Precinct Captain) will be recognized.

The reception is co-sponsored by the Miami University College Democrats.
