1. Kathryn Romano was elected to a vacant position on the BCP-PAC Executive Board.

2. Candidate funding recommendations (based on several factors including specific funding requests by candidates) made by the BCP-PAC Executive Board were unanimously approved by the general membership.  Supported candidates included incumbent Judge Kathleen Romans (below), Butler County Juvenile Court, $1500.

Butch Hubble (below), candidate for Butler County Commissioner, $800.

Justin Coussoule (below), local Democratic candidate for Congress in Ohio’s 8th Congressional District, spoke briefly about his campaign and about strategies to defeat the incumbent, Congressman John Boehner.  BCP-PAC is unable to financially support this very deserving candidate because it is not a registered Federal political action committee.  Individuals are free to contribute to his campaign; more information available at his web site <http://www.coussouleforcongress.com/>.

February 10th General Meeting and Candidates Night

February 10th was a miserable day to have a meeting, because of the weather, but the Community Room at the LCNB Bank Building was full and the mood was enthusiastic for the joint quarterly general meeting of the BCP-PAC and the Miami University College Democrats featuring Candidates Night.

BCP President Don Daiker (below) welcomed everyone and introduced guests.

Meet Justin Coussoule at BCP’s General Meeting Feb. 10th

COME MEET JUSTIN COUSSOULE, THE MAN TO BEAT JOHN BOEHNER

I’ve heard you!  For years you have lamented being represented by John Boehner, the man who has never seen a war or corporation he couldn’t support or a program for the middle class that he could.

For years Boehner has faced only token opposition in Ohio’s 8th Congressional district.  But this year is different.

That’s why I am urging you to step forward to welcome the man with the courage and determination to take on the most powerful Republican in Washington and a chief architect of Republican obstructionism.

The man to defeat John Boehner in November is  Justin A. Coussoule, an intelligent and articulate  young man (he is 35) with an impressive background in the military, the law, and business.

You can meet Justin at the annual Election Meeting and Candidates Night of the Butler County Progressive Political Action Committee and the Miami University College Democrats.   That meeting starts at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 10 at the Community Room of the LCNB Bank Building, 30 Park Place West, uptown Oxford.

Justin will be the meeting’s Featured Speaker.  It will be his first major address since declaring his candidacy.

Justin graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point with a Bachelor of Science in political science and systems engineering, and then attended the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.  His military awards include the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, and National Defense Ribbon.

Following his military service, Justin earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Maryland School of Law and interned for U.S. Congressman Maurice Hinchey (D-N.Y.).  He has worked in private practice, specializing in workers’ compensation, and he established and maintains a small business.   [Justin's full resume is attached.]

Currently, Justin is a purchasing manager for P & G in Cincinnati.  He is a resident of Liberty Township, where he lives with his wife, Amanda, and their two children, Caroline and John.

“I want to give voters a choice between the status quo and something new,” Coussoule says, “to return Ohio’s 8th Congressional seat to whom it belongs—the people.   For too long it has served the special interests of the wealthy and powerful in Washington.”

Other candidates you can meet on Wednesday night include incumbent Butler County Juvenile Court Judge Kathleen Dobrozsi Romans, County Commission candidate Butch Hubble, County Auditor candidate Michelle Wilson, and Ohio House candidates J. C. Shew (53rd district) and Bruce Carter (54th district).

The meeting is open to the public, although only current BCP-PAC members may vote for officers and executive board members.  Membership applications will be available.  Annual dues are only $15.

Please come to support Progressive Democrats like Justin Coussoule! They need us during these difficult times!

August 13th General Meeting

Guest of Honor: Hamilton Commission president David PepperDavid Pepper

Last night our PAC had the privilege of hosting an address by David Pepper at our general meeting.  David Pepper is Hamilton County commission president and candidate, Ohio State Auditor.  David explained why the auditor’s office may be the most important state office for the year 2010.  The state auditor is one of five members of the Ohio Apportionment Board.  The auditor may well be the third Democrat on the apportionment board.  “In 2011 the state will redraw, i.e., redistrict, political boundaries for U.S. Congressional Districts, and Ohio House and Senate state legislative districts.  The Republicans in 1990 and again in 2000 made sure that political districts were unfairly drawn to a Republican advantage.  David would rather see political districts divided up so that no political party would have an advantage based on how districts are divided up.  There’s a concept that has been lost on the GOP.

Please look at his web site and think about getting involved in this important race www.davidpepper.com
