YouTube video of the pro-public option rally at U.S. Congressman John Boehner’s District Office in West Chester on October 5, 2009. Boehner is the Republic congressperson from Ohio’s 8th Congressional District and the Minority (Republican) Leader of the House of Representatives. Constituents, including BCP-PAC and Change Butler PAC members, rallied after Boehner made the outrageous statement that he had never meet a person outside Congress or the Obama Administration who supported the public option as part of a comprehensive reform of health care insurance in America. The roughly 150 citizens that rallied delivered a petition with 1,800 signatures supporting the public option to Boehner’s (sheepish) staffer. Boehner’s statement was so inaccurate and disdainful as to not be funny. Thanks to all who stood up and said “Enough! I’m an American and I support the public option” to Congressman Boehner.
On August 18th at a Barney Frank town hall meeting in Dartmouth, MA, a constituent asks, “Why are you supporting this Nazi policy?” Frank responds: “On what planet do you spend most of your time?” It only got better from there. Why don’t we have more politicians standing up to these right-wing fear-mongers. Watch the video and then thank Rep. Frank for having the guts to call it like it is. As time goes by, it is obvious that the only thing the Republicans want to do about health care is to delay or kill any reform. Jane Hamsher, founder of Fire Dog Lake, was on the Rachel Maddow Show last night. You can only hope that all progressives can be this strong for health care.
